Semaglutide vs. tirzepatide: what is the difference?
Individually compounded GLP-1 Semaglutide and tirzepatide are both injectable and oral medications used for weight management, but they work slightly differently in the body. Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which mimics a hormone that regulates blood sugar and appetite. Tirzepatide, on the other hand, is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, meaning it targets two different hormones involved in blood sugar regulation and appetite control. This dual action of tirzepatide may potentially offer additional benefits in glucose management and weight loss for some patients.
What are compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide?
Working with licensed compounding pharmacies, LookMeds is able to provide indivdualized weight loss medications to meet our patients’ needs. Compounded medications are not FDA evaluated and approved.
This differs from brand-name weight loss injections, which typically come in a preloaded injection pen. But don’t worry, LookMeds offers the instruction and support you need to confidently and safely take your prescribed medication.
